Hi, I’m Sandhiya – born and raised in beautiful Suriname, where my love for culture, traditions, and faith began at an early age.

I grew up in a warm family where the Hindu faith played an important role. My grandfather was deeply involved in the faith, something my father proudly continued. He personally made the djora djama (the traditional yellow outfit for the groom) and helped countless men, both within and outside our family, dress for their special day. My mother made the most delicious mithai sweets and was always ready to help with rituals such as the matkorwa ceremony. Because of them, I developed a deep respect and love for our rich traditions from a very young age.

I myself had a traditional Hindu wedding, and to this day, I proudly wear my sindoor. For me, it is a symbol of connection and commitment that I carry with love and pride.

I am happily married to a wonderful man, a proud mother of three children, and a true family person. I love cooking, enjoying good food, traveling, reading, and making beautiful memories — especially with the people I love most.
